Dr. Yeshayahu Yakir, Chairman
Dr. Yeshayahu Yakir is a co-founder of Procognia Israel. After leading the company for eight years he has handed the CEO post over to Mr. Alon Natanson, and served as Executive Vice Chairman of the Board until May 2012, since then he is serving as Executive Chairman, where he is involved with the company's intellectual property and business development.
Dr. Yakir brings more than 20 years of experience in establishing and managing biotech and diagnostic companies. In addition to Procognia he served as President and Director of Healthcare Technologies Ltd., a NASDAQ-traded Israeli holding firm, which specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing of clinical diagnostic test kits, and providing services and tools for diagnostic and research professionals in laboratories and point-of-care sites worldwide. Dr. Yakir has also served as president and director of Savyon Diagnostics Ltd. He has held senior positions as Head of Thymic Humoral Factor Project at Bayer/Miles-Yeda (Israel). Dr. Yakir holds a Ph.D. in Immunology/Cell Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel.
Professor Raphael Catane
Professor Raphael Catane brings to Procognia vast scientific experience in the development of innovative technologies for cancer diagnostics and therapeutic management. A renowned expert in oncology, Raphael possesses an extensive global network of academic and professional connections in the field. He is currently serving as the Director of the Division of Oncology at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. Prior to this appointment, Raphael served as the Director of the Institute of Oncology at Shaare Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, the Director of the Clinical Cancer Research-Pharmaceutical Research Institute at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Connecticut, USA, and Acting Head of the Sharett Institute of Oncology at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, where he also served as a Senior Physician for a decade.
In addition to medical practice and management, Raphael has extensive research experience, having held positions as Guest Researcher, Clinical Associate and Special Assistant to the Chief Investigational Drug Branch at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland USA. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Oncology at Hadassah University Hospital and Associate Professor of Oncology at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School. He is currently the Professor and Chairman of the Division of Oncology at the Tel Hashomer Campus of Tel Aviv University. He has authored close to 200 academic articles, and has edited or contributed to over a dozen books in the field of oncology.
Raphael is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Israel Society of Clinical Oncology & Radiotherapy, the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) the Israel Society of Immunology and the American Association of Cancer Research.
Mr. Ofer Lavie
Mr. Ofer Lavie is a financial business development consultant with extensive experience as CFO in Israeli Hi-Tech industries. He is currently the CEO of the Education Center of the CFO Forum in Israel (the Forum has more than 600 companies registered in Israel). Mr. Lavie also currently sits on the board of: Formula System Ltd, Yozma Pension Fund for the Self Employed Ltd, Procognia Israel Ltd., Alpa Cosmetics Ltd and Shaniv Ltd. Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Mr. Lavie was CFO at Metalink Ltd, a public company traded on the NASDAQ and TASE. Prior to Metalink Mr. Lavie held senior positions in leading industries in Israel (Tadiran Ltd. and El-Op industries Ltd.). Mr. Lavie served As CEO of GMA Communications Ltd. Through his activities Mr. Lavie was involved in business activities in: Israel, US, Europe and Asia. Mr. Lavie holds a B.Sc. in Economics (with honors) from Tel Aviv University.
Professor Shmuel Penchas
Professor Shmuel Penchas brings to Procognia decades of high-level experience in executive management, and he is renowned for his broad contribution in Israel to the fields of medicine and health care administration. The former Director-General of Hadassah Medical Organization and a Professor of Health Care Administration at Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Shmuel has held a number of academic appointments at the institution, in addition to his position as a Research Fellow at Harvard University Medical School. Shmuel has been appointed to dozens of national committees in Israel in the areas of health policy, health administration and information systems, medical equipment standards, and environmental medicine, and has also represented Israel at international symposiums and WHO conferences. In the past decade, Shmuel has acted as Director for a range of financial and medical technology companies, including Bank Leumi, Leumit Le'atid, Aryeh Insurance, and Gamida Cell Company. He currently serves as Vice President of the Medical Protection Society, London, is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Romania), Director of Rosebud, Tel Aviv, Director of Slangsoft, Jerusalem, and numerous other senior executive appointments.
Mr. Tzahi Sultan
Tzahi Sultan brings over 20 years of underwriting experience to Procognia, having held senior managerial positions in some of Israel's largest finance companies. Tzahi served as managing director at HSBC, Chief Executive of Gmul Sahar Underwriting, and he also headed the underwriting division of Poalim Capital Markets, a subsidiary of Bank Hapoalim. For the past 5 years, Tzahi has served as CEO of Clal Finance Underwriting. Under his leadership, CFU executed hundreds of issuings, public and private, including some of the highest-profile IPOs and privatization processes in the Israeli market, in addition to M&A transactions. In March 2009, Tzahi acquired control of CFU and now sits at its helm, as Chairman. He is a founder and co-owner of Modiin Energy Limited Partnership, a foremost Israeli oil and gas exploration and development company, which is strategically developing its asset base with oil and gas licenses in the Levant Basin offshore Israel. Under the management of Tzahi and IDB Group, Israel's largest, top-tier, diversified business group with assets of over NIS 140 billion, Modiin Energy aims to become a leading player in the domestic oil and gas sector in Israel.
Tzahi earned his BA and MA in economic and business administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
